Kyndryl launches patented AI feature to prevent IT outages

May 7, 2026 8:01 AM

Kyndryl (NYSE: KD) announced a new patented capability within its Kyndryl Bridge platform designed to automatically detect and resolve IT risks before they become outages. The AI-powered feature is now available to the company's customers.

The technology is deployed across more than 200,000 customer devices and generates over 16 million AI insights monthly, according to the company. Kyndryl reported the system has demonstrated up to a 50% reduction in IT incidents and drives $3 billion in annual customer savings from avoided incidents and maintenance costs.

"By embedding AI agents in Kyndryl Bridge for proactive risk detection, we are transforming IT operations from reactive outage recovery to proactive, evidence-based prevention," said Xerxes Cooper, Global Leader of Kyndryl Delivery.

The system analyzes patterns across applications and infrastructure to identify conditions that typically precede outages. It processes observability signals to detect how anomalies accumulate and spread across IT systems, enabling teams to intervene before problems escalate.

Kyndryl stated the capability handles early detection for more than 10 million incidents annually and has shown up to a 90% reduction in mission-critical production outages for certain customers. The technology also reduces root-cause analysis time from weeks to hours for major IT incidents.

The prediction and prevention feature is integrated into Kyndryl Bridge, which serves more than 1,400 customers. The platform provides AI agent-assisted support across hybrid and multi-vendor IT environments.

Kyndryl describes itself as a provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, operating in more than 60 countries. The information is based on a company press release.
