Lightspeed Commerce Inc. (NYSE: LSPD) (TSX: LSPD) appointed Bhawna Singh as chief technology officer, the Montreal-based commerce platform company announced May 7.

Singh brings more than 25 years of experience leading engineering organizations across enterprise software and consumer businesses. She previously served as chief technology officer at Okta, where she led technology strategy for a global customer identity platform. Before that, she held the CTO role at Glassdoor, leading global engineering and international expansion efforts.

"Merchants today are navigating extraordinary complexity and the technology they rely on has to work harder, scale faster, and deliver measurable outcomes," Singh said. "What drew me to Lightspeed is the opportunity to build a platform that truly integrates every dimension of a commerce business."

The appointment accompanies Singh's role in advancing Lightspeed's artificial intelligence roadmap. The company recently launched Lightspeed AI, introducing conversational assistants within its retail and restaurant platforms.

Lightspeed also announced new product features across its retail and hospitality platforms. For retail operations, the company introduced integration with Faire's wholesale marketplace, AI-powered optical character recognition for inventory entry, and enhanced scanner capabilities for sales staff.

Hospitality features include AI menu import functionality that digitizes printed menus through photo capture, new promotion capabilities for its Order Anywhere platform, and redesigned point-of-sale navigation. The company expanded its Mobile Tap payment solution to Quebec as part of its tableside service offering.

Lightspeed operates as a point-of-sale and payments platform serving retail, golf and hospitality businesses across more than 100 countries. The company trades on both the New York Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange.
