Ouster partners with DXOMARK to test native color lidar technology

May 7, 2026 7:00 AM

Ouster Inc. (NASDAQ: OUST) announced a strategic collaboration with DXOMARK to test and optimize its Rev8 OS family lidar sensors, which the company describes as the world's first native color lidar technology.

The partnership leverages DXOMARK's image quality evaluation expertise to support development of Ouster's sensing technologies. DXOMARK conducted comprehensive analysis of image sensor processing and performance testing during Rev8 development, including assessments of color fidelity, environmental robustness, and perception accuracy under varying lighting and weather conditions.

"DXOMARK is a leader in image quality testing across multiple industries. Their rigorous and trusted benchmarking methodologies make them an ideal partner as we continue to push the boundaries of sensing performance and perception systems," said Ouster CEO Angus Pacala.

The Rev8 system expands sensor vision to the full range of human-visible color, capturing environmental data with visual information. According to the company, the technology fuses structural and color data at the silicon level, eliminating the need for complex calibration.

"We are proud to collaborate with Ouster, a company that shares our commitment to innovation, on its new Rev8 sensors. This partnership represents an important step in extending our image quality expertise to new 3D depth sensing domains," said Frédéric Guichard, CEO of DXOMARK.

San Francisco-based Ouster develops sensing and perception technology for industrial, robotics, automotive, and smart infrastructure applications. DXOMARK, headquartered in France, provides imaging quality evaluation services and has conducted image quality testing for over 20 years.

The information was disclosed in a company press release.
