GCT Semiconductor signs platform deal with satellite provider
GCT Semiconductor Holding Inc. (NYSE: GCTS) signed a reference platform agreement with a satellite communications provider to support development of user equipment for satellite and terrestrial networks. The agreement supplements a chipset licensing deal the companies executed in January.
Under the new agreement, GCT will provide a reference design built around its 5G and 4G chipsets. The platform is intended to expedite development of the provider's user equipment and enable high-bandwidth communications across satellite and terrestrial networks.
"Signing the reference platform agreement underscores the trust our partner has placed in GCT's technology and our ability to deliver," said John Schlaefer, CEO of GCT. "Our 5G chipsets will play a central role in expanding their satellite network and unlocking new capabilities for customers worldwide."
The platform will enable the satellite provider to work with original equipment manufacturers and original design manufacturers on user equipment development. GCT stated this will support expansion of the provider's satellite network and customer base.
GCT designs and supplies 5G and 4G semiconductor solutions. The company's chipsets integrate radio frequency, baseband modem and digital signal processing functions. The information was disclosed in a company press release.
