Aclarion adds Beverly Hills spine practice to CLARITY trial
Aclarion Inc. (NASDAQ: ACON, ACONW) announced the addition of Lanman Spinal Neurosurgery as a clinical site in its CLARITY trial, marking the first private practice location in Los Angeles to join the study.
The Beverly Hills-based spine practice will participate in the 300-patient randomized clinical trial evaluating Nociscan technology in patients undergoing surgical treatment for discogenic low back pain. The study measures changes in back pain on a 100mm visual analog scale at 12 months compared to baseline.
"Nociscan introduces a new layer of clarity by leveraging MR Spectroscopy to identify pain-generating discs in ways that standard MRI cannot," said Todd Lanman, neurosurgeon and founder of Lanman Spinal Neurosurgery. "The CLARITY trial is particularly important because it is designed to evaluate how this technology can enhance clinical decision-making by more precisely identifying pain-generating discs."
Aclarion anticipates an initial internal data readout and expected public disclosure of early interim results in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to a company statement.
The healthcare technology company's Nociscan platform uses magnetic resonance spectroscopy data from MRI machines to analyze chemical biomarkers associated with disc pain. The company states the technology demonstrates a 97% surgical success rate when all Nociscan-positive discs are treated.
Ryan Bond, Aclarion's chief strategy officer, said private practice spine surgeons treat the majority of patients with chronic low back pain, and the inclusion reflects growing demand for data-driven diagnostic tools.
The CLARITY trial is designed as a prospective, randomized, multi-center study evaluating patients undergoing fusion or total disc replacement procedures for discogenic low back pain.
