ServiceNow expands Build Agent to work with major AI coding tools

May 6, 2026 1:02 PM

ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) announced that its Build Agent is now generally available in ServiceNow Studio and has extended functionality to work with Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot. The company made the announcement at its Knowledge 2026 customer and partner event.

Build Agent allows developers to create applications and AI agents using natural language prompts from any integrated development environment while maintaining ServiceNow's governance framework. The tool's core capabilities are now accessible through the ServiceNow SDK, providing platform intelligence across different development environments.

The company introduced several new features, including a reimagined AI Agent Studio that simplifies agent creation through a conversational interface. Build Agent now operates across the entire ServiceNow platform, enabling developers to customize existing applications in addition to building new ones from scratch.

ServiceNow is making its App Engine Management Center available to all customers at no additional cost. The center provides deployment approvals, release management, and application lifecycle governance for applications built with Build Agent.

"Vibe coding is transforming how fast people can build. But speed without governance and an enterprise runtime produce apps that too often look ready but aren't," said Jithin Bhasker, group vice president and general manager of Creator Workflows and App Engine at ServiceNow.

The Build Agent now includes a self-healing test loop that validates generated code against quality standards and allows customers to encode their development standards into the tool through Custom Instructions.

Availability varies by feature, with Build Agent in ServiceNow Studio currently available, Build Agent Skills for AI coding tools expected in April 2026, and the freemium tier of App Engine Management Center expected in the third quarter of 2026.
