US Army designates PTC's Windchill as official data management platform

May 6, 2026 8:30 AM

PTC (NASDAQ: PTC) announced the U.S. Army has designated its Windchill product lifecycle management solution as the official Product Data Management and Product Lifecycle Management platform for the Army enterprise.

The designation establishes Enterprise Product Data Management (ePDM) as the Department of the Army Approved Data Platform and the authoritative system of record for product data management information across Army operations. The platform will support weapon system development, production, and sustainment processes.

The Army implementation follows a DEVCOM-led initiative to modernize its PLM environment and improve management, governance, and reuse of product data. The system aims to enable governed enterprise workflows, configuration management, and end-to-end business processes while improving data quality and reducing redundancy.

According to the company's press release, the platform supports digital engineering from acquisition through sustainment phases and allows for identification of cost-reduction opportunities. The system also aims to strengthen cybersecurity across Army operations.

PTC, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, employs over 7,000 people and serves more than 30,000 customers globally. The company develops software that enables manufacturers to digitally transform product design, manufacturing, and service operations.

The Windchill platform is part of PTC's broader portfolio supporting what the company describes as the Intelligent Product Lifecycle, which focuses on building product data foundations in engineering and extending data value across enterprises.
