Visa Canada partners with RemitBee for cross-border payments

May 6, 2026 8:05 AM

Visa Canada announced a collaboration with RemitBee Inc., a Toronto-based fintech company, to enable real-time cross-border payments through Visa Direct technology.

The partnership allows RemitBee users to send money directly to eligible bank accounts, digital wallets and Visa cards worldwide. RemitBee, founded in 2015, operates a cross-border payments platform covering more than 190 countries and 150 currencies, serving over 350,000 users.

According to Statistics Canada data cited in the announcement, Canadian residents sent $26.7 billion CAD in remittances abroad in 2025. The collaboration aims to serve Canada's immigrant community, which represents a significant portion of cross-border money transfers.

"We built RemitBee as immigrants who understood firsthand what it means to send money home," said Manos Yoganathan, COO and co-founder of RemitBee. "What began as a mission to make cross-border payments simpler has grown into one of Canada's largest payments platforms."

Sam Fuda, head of commercial money movement solutions at Visa Canada, stated the partnership would deliver "fast, reliable, and secure money movement to billions of people around the world."

The integration will allow RemitBee to serve as a centralized payment infrastructure hub for credit unions, regional remittance operators and financial partners through a single integration point. Visa Direct's network will provide access to markets that have traditionally been difficult to reach for cross-border transfers.

Visa (NYSE: V) operates payment networks across more than 200 countries and territories. RemitBee offers international money transfers, currency exchange, travel services and mobile top-ups alongside its core remittance platform.
