Wyndham launches ChatGPT app for hotel discovery and booking
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (NYSE: WH) announced the launch of a native ChatGPT application that allows travelers to search and discover hotels through conversational AI. The company stated this represents the first native hotel app from a major economy and midscale franchisor in the U.S. available within OpenAI's ChatGPT platform.
The app enables users to explore approximately 8,400 hotels across Wyndham's global portfolio through map-based navigation, amenity filters and interactive hotel cards within ChatGPT's interface. Travelers can refine search results using natural language and transition to WyndhamHotels.com to complete bookings.
This marks Wyndham's second major large language model integration. In 2025, the company became the first major hotel company to integrate with Anthropic's Claude platform. Wyndham also plans an upcoming integration with Google's AI Mode.
"Conversational AI is reshaping how travelers discover and book. With our native ChatGPT app launch, Wyndham is helping our hotels stay at the forefront," said Scott Strickland, Chief Commercial Officer at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
The company reported investing more than $450 million in technology since 2018 and became the first major hotel company to fully migrate its systems to the cloud in 2020. Wyndham stated that AI-powered tools in its call centers have reduced average handle times by 7%.
The company operates Wyndham Connect, an AI-powered guest engagement platform available to franchisees at no additional cost. According to the company, the most engaged hotels averaged more than $60,000 in incremental revenue last year, with the highest performing hotel exceeding $200,000.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts operates approximately 8,400 hotels across approximately 100 countries through its network of approximately 869,000 franchised and affiliated rooms.
