May 6, 2026 8:01 AM

BorgWarner Inc. (NYSE: BWA) announced it secured a contract to supply a variable turbine geometry turbocharger and exhaust gas recirculation cooler for a major European commercial vehicle manufacturer. The components will support a Euro 7-compliant, 6-cylinder heavy-duty diesel engine platform for long-haul truck applications.

Production is scheduled to begin at the end of 2028, according to the company's statement. The contract expands BorgWarner's presence in the on-highway commercial vehicle segment.

"We are pleased to further expand our relationship with this customer on our jointly developed turbocharger and EGR cooler business for a premium heavy-duty engine platform," said Dr. Volker Weng, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager, Turbos and Thermal Technologies.

The VTG turbocharger features a tailored cartridge and turbine housing design, ball bearings for enhanced transient response, and a high-efficiency compressor design. The EGR cooler incorporates an advanced internal plate design and floating core architecture for thermal cycling durability.

The components will be manufactured at BorgWarner facilities in Bradford, United Kingdom, and Vigo, Spain. The products are designed to help meet emissions and fuel efficiency requirements for the Euro 7-compliant engine platform.

BorgWarner did not disclose the value of the contract or identify the European commercial vehicle manufacturer. The company has operated for more than 130 years and focuses on mobility innovation and sustainability solutions.
