Bimergen Energy selects SMA for 80 MW Texas battery storage projects

May 6, 2026 6:31 AM

Bimergen Energy Corporation (NYSE American: BESS) announced it has selected SMA as the inverter supplier for eight battery energy storage system projects totaling approximately 80 MW in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas market.

The portfolio consists of eight 9.9 MW battery energy storage projects that Bimergen recently acquired. The company stated it chose SMA's technology to comply with Foreign Entity of Concern requirements under the Inflation Reduction Act, supporting eligibility for tax incentives.

Bimergen funded the acquisitions through strategic capital partnerships and project-level financing. The projects are expected to begin operations between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.

"We are excited to advance these projects with SMA as a key technology partner," said Cole Johnson, Co-CEO of Bimergen Energy. "Selecting a proven, high-performance inverter solution is critical as we scale deployment across our ERCOT footprint."

Bob Brilon, Co-CEO of Bimergen Energy, described the SMA selection as "another meaningful step in executing our ERCOT strategy."

The company stated the 80 MW portfolio will provide grid stability, support renewable integration, and deliver ancillary services within ERCOT. Bimergen noted this development adds to its pipeline of approximately 2 GW of battery energy storage projects nationwide.

Bimergen Energy specializes in developing, owning, and operating standalone battery energy storage systems across multiple U.S. power markets. The company manages the full project lifecycle from site selection through operations.
