ServiceNow deepens Microsoft partnership for AI agent governance

May 5, 2026 12:59 PM

ServiceNow Inc. (NYSE: NOW) announced an expanded strategic partnership with Microsoft Corp. that integrates its AI Control Tower governance platform with Microsoft Agent 365's AI agent ecosystem.

The integration extends ServiceNow AI Control Tower's existing governance capabilities beyond Azure-backed Microsoft Foundry and Copilot Studio to include Microsoft Agent 365. This expansion provides IT teams enhanced visibility into AI agent activity across both ServiceNow and Microsoft environments, regardless of where the agents were built or deployed.

ServiceNow AI specialists will be available through the Microsoft Agent 365 Marketplace, allowing the company's Autonomous Workforce to operate across Microsoft 365 applications including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The AI specialists will appear as digital employees with defined roles and permissions within the Microsoft environment.

Through the integration, ServiceNow AI Control Tower enables administrators to review and approve AI specialists before submission to the Microsoft Agent 365 Marketplace, where Microsoft's publishing and policy controls apply. The system tracks usage across both companies' metered models while maintaining Microsoft 365 permission and identity controls.

"ServiceNow and Microsoft are helping organizations maximize value from every AI investment," said Jon Sigler, executive vice president and general manager of AI Platform at ServiceNow. "With this expanded integration, customers can securely apply governance across ServiceNow and Microsoft environments with integrated visibility and controls."

Charles Lamanna, executive vice president of Copilot, Agents, and Platform at Microsoft, said the collaboration brings ServiceNow's AI expertise into Microsoft 365 to add workflow intelligence on the secure foundation.

The AI Control Tower and Microsoft Agent 365 integration is available in preview. ServiceNow AI specialists will be available in the Microsoft Agent 365 Marketplace later this year. The announcement was made at ServiceNow's Knowledge 2026 conference.
