Amazon Business adds fresh grocery delivery to over 2,300 US cities
Amazon Business launched same-day delivery of fresh groceries to business customers across more than 2,300 cities and towns in the United States, according to a company press release. The service adds thousands of perishable items including dairy, produce, baked goods and frozen foods to the existing catalog of business supplies.
Business Prime members receive free same-day delivery on grocery orders over $25 in most areas, while non-members pay a $12.99 delivery fee regardless of order size. Orders under $25 for Prime members incur a $2.99 delivery charge.
The expansion addresses customer requests to combine fresh food purchases with standard business supplies in a single order. Businesses can select delivery windows that align with their operating hours to ensure proper handling of perishable items.
"Our customers have been asking for an easier way to order fresh groceries alongside the everyday business essentials they rely on to run their operations," said Shelley Salomon, VP Amazon Business.
Amazon uses temperature-controlled fulfillment centers and implements a six-point quality check process for perishable items. The company provides a freshness guarantee for select products, offering replacements if items do not meet quality standards upon delivery.
Amazon Business serves more than eight million organizations globally and generates over $35 billion in annualized gross sales. The platform operates in 11 countries and serves 97 of the Fortune 100 companies. Amazon plans to expand fresh grocery delivery to additional areas through 2026.
The grocery service leverages Amazon's position as the second-largest grocer in the US with over $150 billion in gross sales, extending the consumer grocery delivery model to business customers.
