Cognex launches In-Sight 3900 AI vision system with Qualcomm technology

May 5, 2026 9:04 AM

Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) announced the launch of its In-Sight 3900 Vision System, a machine vision product built with Qualcomm Dragonwing platforms. The system is designed for industrial inspection applications without requiring an external PC.

The In-Sight 3900 processes inspections up to four times faster than previous Cognex vision systems and supports image resolutions up to 25 megapixels. The system incorporates what the company describes as Edge AI, Advanced AI, and rule-based vision tools with embedded computing capabilities.

"The In-Sight 3900 represents a major leap forward in what embedded AI vision can deliver on the factory floor," said Matt Moschner, President and CEO of Cognex. "Manufacturers no longer have to choose between inspection depth and line speed."

The system features dual Ethernet architecture for connectivity with programmable logic controllers, robots, and enterprise systems. It includes a dedicated AI processor for decision-making functions at the production line level.

Andrea Sabbadini, Engineering Manager at Fuji Seal, stated that the system allows deployment of Cognex's Edge AI Read tools at full production speed. "The result is a more robust inspection process that's faster to set up and easier to maintain across our lines," Sabbadini said.

The In-Sight 3900 can be integrated with Cognex OneVision software for model development and deployment across manufacturing sites. Shyam Krishnamurthy, Senior Vice President at Qualcomm, noted the collaboration's focus on supporting manufacturers with demanding inspection requirements.

Cognex, headquartered in Massachusetts, provides machine vision technology for manufacturing and distribution applications across automotive, electronics, and consumer goods industries.
