Extreme Networks launches autonomous AI agents for enterprise networking
Extreme Networks Inc. (NASDAQ: EXTR) announced the launch of Extreme Agent ONE, an AI system designed to provide autonomous network operations for enterprise environments. The system combines AI reasoning, network context, and operational expertise to enable networks to detect issues, make decisions, and take actions without human intervention.
The company plans to release two modes of the system. Agent ONE Coworker, scheduled for Q3 2026 within Extreme Platform ONE, will work alongside IT teams to provide proactive monitoring and automated responses. Agent ONE Operator, planned for Q4 2026, will operate continuously without requiring constant human input.
Agent ONE Coworker will offer conversational access to network data, automated support workflows, real-time dashboards, AI-driven Wi-Fi optimization, and proactive insights through a feature called "Nudge" that surfaces issues and recommendations based on context and urgency.
Agent ONE Operator will execute tasks independently within defined governance boundaries, responding to events in real time and running scheduled workflows while learning from interactions to improve performance over time.
The system operates on what the company calls the Extreme AI stack, which includes AI reasoning capabilities, real-time environment-specific context, encoded operational expertise, and autonomous agents that analyze and act at scale.
Extreme Networks also introduced Extreme Exchange, an AI skills marketplace for Extreme Platform ONE that enables customers to discover and activate skills that extend Agent ONE Operator's capabilities. The marketplace will support domain-specific intelligence across industries including healthcare, education, retail, and manufacturing.
Nabil Bukhari, CTO and President of AI Platforms at Extreme Networks, stated that the company's vision centers on "autonomous networking at scale delivered on a foundation of trust between humans and AI agents."
