Greenland Mines joins European Raw Materials Alliance
Greenland Mines Ltd (NASDAQ: GRML) and its subsidiary Major Precious Greenland A/S have become members of the European Raw Materials Alliance, the company announced May 5.
The European Raw Materials Alliance is an industry-driven alliance established by the European Commission to secure access to critical and strategic raw materials for Europe's industrial ecosystems. The alliance is managed by EIT RawMaterials and brings together stakeholders across the raw-materials value chain.
Bo Møller Stensgaard, Greenland Mines president, said joining the alliance positions the company's Skaergaard project at the center of European and North American discussions on secure, low-carbon critical raw materials supply.
The alliance serves as an investment pipeline and support platform for raw-materials projects aligned with EU objectives. It helps identify and develop investment cases across the value chain while supporting the EU's Action Plan on Critical Raw Materials.
Greenland Mines' membership connects to its North Atlantic Processing Site Strategy, under which Skaergaard ore would be mined in East Greenland and potentially shipped to Iceland for geothermal-powered processing.
The Skaergaard project hosts a 2022 NI 43-101 Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resource of 25.4 million ounces palladium equivalent and 23.5 million ounces gold equivalent, according to the company.
Greenland Mines operates two divisions: Natural Resources, focused on the Skaergaard project in Southeast Greenland, and Cell and Gene Therapy. The company is US-registered and Nasdaq-listed but maintains operations across European and North American frameworks.
