Sentinel sells Autronica fire detection unit to MSA Safety for $555 million
Sentinel Capital Partners agreed to sell Autronica Fire and Security to MSA Safety (NYSE: MSA) for approximately $555 million, according to a company statement.
Autronica, headquartered in Trondheim, Norway, designs and manufactures fire detection, gas detection, and alarm systems for infrastructure, energy, and maritime applications. The company operates as a unit of Sentinel's Spectrum Safety Solutions platform.
Sentinel acquired Autronica in 2024 through a carveout of Carrier Global Corporation's industrial fire business. The private equity firm also agreed in March 2026 to sell Spectrum's Marioff division to private equity firm Inflexion.
The divestitures allow Spectrum to concentrate on its U.S.-based detection and monitoring businesses, Det-Tronics and Fireye, according to the statement.
"We appreciate Sentinel's support and strategic guidance over the past two years," said Sindre Utne, Autronica's chief executive. "Their partnership helped us scale thoughtfully and expand geographically while staying true to our culture and commitment to excellence."
MSA Safety, based in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, develops and manufactures safety products including gas detection systems and breathing apparatus. The company employs approximately 5,000 people worldwide.
Citi and J.P. Morgan served as financial advisors to Sentinel for the transaction, with Kirkland & Ellis providing legal counsel.
Sentinel focuses on midmarket investments across business services, consumer, healthcare services, and industrial sectors. The firm has raised more than $11.2 billion of capital since its 1995 inception.
