Medline launches AI-powered supply chain platform Mpower
Medline (NASDAQ: MDLN) announced the availability of Mpower, a cloud-based artificial intelligence platform designed to help healthcare providers manage supply chain disruptions. The company made the announcement on May 4 from its Northfield, Illinois headquarters.
The platform was developed in collaboration with Microsoft and includes predictive analytics, real-time monitoring capabilities, and an integrated AI chat agent. Mpower uses Microsoft Office 365 integration and Microsoft Azure for data security.
According to the company, the platform provides real-time visibility into inventory positions, demand forecasts, and potential supply network vulnerabilities. It draws on Medline's supply chain data as both a manufacturer and distributor.
Medline tested the platform with 10 U.S. health systems before the broader launch. The company reported that initial data showed more than 50% efficiency gains in order substitution workflows compared to a baseline period of five to seven days without the platform. Health systems using Mpower with Medline's AutoSub program saw fill-rates increase by 1-2%.
"Mpower reflects how we approach technology at Medline – building practical solutions in close collaboration with partners and customers," said Marshall Lancaster, Medline's chief information officer.
The platform includes features for predicting supply chain risks, automating workflows, and streamlining product substitutions and approval processes. Users can ask questions and explore product alternatives through the integrated chat agent.
Medline plans to roll out Mpower to customers in phases throughout 2026, with additional capabilities planned as the platform develops. The company stated that additional features will be added as the platform evolves.
