IBM expands Db2 Genius Hub support to Google Vertex AI and Intel Gaudi

May 4, 2026 12:44 PM

IBM announced that its Db2 Genius Hub now supports Google Vertex AI and Intel Gaudi AI accelerators for AI inferencing capabilities. The expansion provides additional hardware and cloud platform options for customers using IBM's database management system.

The Db2 Genius Hub is IBM's AI-driven operating layer for managing and optimizing Db2 database environments. The platform previously supported Amazon Bedrock, AMD Instinct accelerators, and NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs.

The new Google Vertex AI integration allows customers to connect their Db2 data with Google Cloud's machine learning platform for building and deploying AI models. Intel Gaudi support provides an additional hardware option for AI training and inferencing workloads, with Intel Gaudi 3 positioned as a cost-effective alternative for large-scale AI deployments.

IBM stated that the Db2 Genius Hub supports both on-premises and cloud deployments. For on-premises installations, the platform works with NVIDIA H100 and H200 GPUs, AMD Instinct accelerators, and Intel Gaudi accelerators. Cloud deployment options include IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services with Bedrock integration, and Google Cloud Platform with Vertex AI support.

The company described the expansion as part of its strategy to provide flexibility for enterprises with different latency requirements, cost structures, and data sovereignty needs. Current Db2 customers can upgrade to Db2 AI Editions to access the Genius Hub and the new inferencing capabilities.

The announcement was made on May 4, 2026, according to the company's press release.
