IBM adds AI features to Scuderia Ferrari mobile app
IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Ferrari introduced new artificial intelligence-powered features to the Scuderia Ferrari mobile application, the companies announced. The enhanced capabilities include an AI companion, unified game center, and improved race center experience.
The AI companion, built with IBM watsonx technology, functions as a digital guide that responds to user questions about the team, drivers, and race season through conversation-style prompts. The system uses watsonx Orchestrate to provide responses based on current and historical Scuderia Ferrari data.
The new game center offers race predictors, quizzes, and challenges connected to live Grand Prix events. Features include global leaderboards, digital achievements, badges, and a 60-second countdown quiz format. An achievements tab allows users to share accomplishments on social media platforms.
The race center provides detailed session timelines, real-time driver data, and insights throughout race weekends from practice sessions to race day.
"Fans today expect more than just access to information — they want to feel closer to the action, to the drivers, the teams, and to each other," said Jonathan Adashek, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at IBM.
IBM serves as the official fan engagement and data analytics partner for Scuderia Ferrari. Since the app's relaunch in May 2025, the application recorded a 35% increase in cumulative downloads and a 36% increase in average monthly active users. Average race active users increased by 56%, while views rose 62% and engaged sessions increased 35%.
IBM plans to continue adding features to the application throughout the 2026 Formula 1 season. The app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
