WW International Inc. (NASDAQ: WW) announced it will offer access to Novo Nordisk's Ozempic pill through its Med+ program and affiliated medical groups. The oral semaglutide medication provides a once-daily GLP-1 option for adults with type 2 diabetes.

Novo Nordisk previously introduced Ozempic as an injectable GLP-1 treatment for adults with type 2 diabetes in the U.S. The pill formulation offers the same active ingredient in oral form. Weight Watchers stated that widespread insurance coverage of Ozempic may allow eligible members to access monthly prescriptions for as low as $25 through pharmacy benefits.

"With the addition of Ozempic pill to our formulary, Weight Watchers Med+ is giving eligible members access to another FDA-approved semaglutide option," said Jon Volkmann, Chief Operations Officer at Weight Watchers.

Through the Med+ program, members will receive access to board-certified clinicians, insurance support, and the Weight Watchers Diabetes Support program. The diabetes program includes nutrition guidance, coaching, community access, and a blood sugar tracker. Weight Watchers cited a study of 136 individuals showing a 0.75% reduction in HbA1c after six months on its diabetes nutrition program.

Ed Cinca, senior vice president of Marketing & Patient Solutions at Novo Nordisk Inc., said the partnership helps broaden patient access with coaching and clinical support for treatment navigation.
