Harris Teeter expands GLP-1 weight management medication offerings
Harris Teeter, a subsidiary of Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), announced the expansion of GLP-1 medications and weight management support services across its pharmacy locations. The grocery chain now offers these medications alongside nutrition counseling and cost-saving programs.
The company's pharmacies will fill prescriptions from any healthcare provider and provide counseling on weight loss medications, including guidance on how the medications work and potential side effects management. Harris Teeter pharmacists will also help customers identify manufacturer savings programs and alternative payment options.
Harris Teeter will honor manufacturer-sponsored savings programs, including Lilly's KwikPen Self-Pay Savings Card for Zepbound. According to the company, this marks the first time self-pay patients may be eligible for Lilly's savings program for this product at all pharmacy locations with a prescription.
"Access to effective weight management support shouldn't be complicated or cost-prohibitive," said Lindsay Capozzziello, director of health and wellness at Harris Teeter. "At Harris Teeter, we're committed to meeting customers where they are, with knowledgeable pharmacy teams, registered dietitians and fresh, nourishing foods that support the whole journey."
The expanded services include dietitian consultations, over-the-counter health products such as protein powders and fiber supplements, and access to the company's OptUP program that identifies products aligned with balanced eating goals.
Harris Teeter operates more than 250 stores and 85 fuel centers across eight states and Washington D.C., employing approximately 36,000 associates. The company has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kroger since its acquisition.
