Beam Global receives patent for integrated wind-solar power system

April 30, 2026 6:00 AM

Beam Global (NASDAQ: BEEM) announced it received a U.S. patent for an integrated wind and solar power generation system. The United States Patent and Trademark Office granted patent number 12,573,851, titled "Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging System with Down-Sun Wind Turbine."

The patent covers tracking technology that enables solar and wind energy capture in hybrid systems without interference between the wind turbine and solar array. The system also holds a Chinese patent, according to the company's statement.

The patented system features coordinated tracking that orients solar panels toward the sun while keeping the wind turbine positioned down-sun and aligned with wind direction. The design prevents shading of the solar array and reduces wind turbulence, the company stated.

The technology applies to Beam Global's BeamFlight autonomous drone recharging system and BeamSpot streetlight replacement product. The system reorients based on time of day and geographic location to maximize solar exposure while the wind turbine automatically aligns with wind direction.

"Our energy resilience philosophy focuses on generating electricity from optimal sources without relying on supply chains or centralized infrastructure," said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global.

Beam Global develops sustainable infrastructure solutions for transportation, energy security and smart city applications. The San Diego-based company operates facilities in Illinois, Serbia and the United Arab Emirates.
