Diana Shipping secures new charter contracts for two vessels
Diana Shipping Inc. (NYSE: DSX) announced it has entered into time charter contracts for two of its dry bulk vessels through separate wholly-owned subsidiaries.
The company secured a charter for the m/v New York, a 177,773 deadweight ton Capesize vessel built in 2010, with Refined Success Limited. The gross charter rate is $27,500 per day, minus a 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period from May 1, 2026 until minimum February 1, 2028 up to maximum March 31, 2028. The vessel is currently chartered at a gross rate of $17,600 per day.
Diana Shipping also arranged a charter for the m/v DSI Pyxis, a 60,362 deadweight ton Ultramax vessel built in 2018, with Oldendorff GmbH & Co. KG. The gross charter rate is $16,000 per day, minus a 5% commission, for a period from May 3, 2026 until minimum June 15, 2027 up to maximum August 15, 2027. This vessel is currently chartered at a gross rate of $13,100 per day.
The company stated the employment of both vessels is anticipated to generate approximately $23.76 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charters.
Diana Shipping's fleet currently consists of 36 dry bulk vessels including 4 Newcastlemax, 8 Capesize, 4 Post-Panamax, 6 Kamsarmax, 5 Panamax and 9 Ultramax vessels. The company expects to take delivery of two methanol dual fuel new-building Kamsarmax dry bulk vessels by the second half of 2027 and the first half of 2028. The combined carrying capacity of the current fleet is approximately 4.1 million deadweight tons, with a weighted average age of 12.43 years.
