April 29, 2026 9:10 AM

Anixa Biosciences Inc. (NASDAQ: ANIX) announced that the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property has issued Patent Number 432748, covering aspects of the company's breast cancer vaccine technology. The patent extends intellectual property protection for the vaccine program in Mexico until 2040.

The breast cancer vaccine was developed in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic and targets human α-lactalbumin, a protein associated with lactation that appears in certain breast cancers. The vaccine aims to prime the immune system to prevent tumor formation while avoiding damage to normal tissue.

Phase 1 trial results showed the vaccine met primary endpoints and was safe at the maximum tolerated dose. The vaccine elicited immune responses in 74% of participants across all tested doses. Based on these results, Anixa is preparing for a Phase 2 clinical trial.

The Mexican patent adds to Anixa's international intellectual property portfolio for the breast cancer vaccine technology. Cleveland Clinic invented the vaccine and exclusively licensed the related patents to Anixa Biosciences.

Anixa is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on cancer treatment and prevention. The company's portfolio includes an ovarian cancer immunotherapy developed with Moffitt Cancer Center and vaccines targeting breast and ovarian cancers developed with Cleveland Clinic.
