Commerce integrates PayPal Store Sync for AI-powered product discovery

April 29, 2026 8:01 AM

Commerce (NASDAQ: CMRC) announced the integration of PayPal's Store Sync offering into the BigCommerce App Marketplace and Channel Manager. The integration allows BigCommerce merchants to connect their product catalogs, inventory, and order management to AI-powered shopping platforms including Microsoft Copilot, Meta, and Perplexity.

PayPal Store Sync is a catalog and order management solution that connects merchant storefronts with AI shopping channels. Through the integration, product data such as pricing, images, descriptions, reviews and inventory become accessible to AI platforms where consumers search for products.

The service enables products to be discovered and purchased on AI-powered surfaces. PayPal handles the checkout process when consumers find products through these platforms, eliminating additional technical work for merchants.

"AI is fundamentally changing how people discover and buy products. Merchants need to meet shoppers in those moments and make it easy to move from discovery to purchase or risk being left out of the journey," said Sharon Gee, senior vice president of product for AI at Commerce.

The integration provides merchants with AI discoverability across multiple platforms through a single connection. PayPal manages payments, fraud detection, identity verification, buyer protection, and dispute resolution. Merchants retain their status as merchant of record and maintain brand identity, customer relationships and fulfillment responsibilities.

According to Adobe Analytics, AI-driven retail sales increased nearly 700% year-over-year in the most recent holiday season.

The PayPal Store Sync app is available on the BigCommerce App Marketplace for US-based BigCommerce merchants using PayPal for payment processing.
