April 29, 2026 5:54 AM

GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) announced it received an order from Middle Delta Electricity Production Company, an affiliate of Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, to modernize power generation infrastructure at the Bahna and Nubaria power plants in Egypt. The order was booked in the first quarter of 2026.

The three-year project includes two Advanced Gas Path upgrades for GE Vernova 9F gas turbines at the Bahna power plant and multiyear services agreements for both facilities. The Bahna agreement spans 15 years while the Nubaria agreement covers eight years.

The upgrades are expected to increase gas turbine output and improve efficiency by approximately 2 percent, according to Mohamed El-Abd, Chairman of MDEPC. "These improvements are expected to enable additional power generation with more efficient fuel use and may help reduce carbon emissions per megawatt hour," El-Abd said.

Joseph Anis, President & CEO for Europe, Middle East & Africa at GE Vernova's Gas Power business, stated that upgrades can help operators improve output, extend maintenance intervals, and enhance efficiency while supporting more reliable power generation.

GE Vernova has maintained operations in Egypt for more than 50 years, supporting the country's electricity infrastructure through technologies, local talent development, and project financing. The company's current installed base in Egypt includes more than 60 gas and steam turbines with approximately 10 gigawatts of combined generating capacity.
