OpenAI and AWS expand partnership to bring AI models to enterprises
Investing.com -- OpenAI and Amazon Web Services announced Tuesday an expanded strategic partnership that brings OpenAI's artificial intelligence capabilities directly into AWS environments.
The partnership introduces three new offerings launching in limited preview: OpenAI models on AWS, Codex on AWS, and Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI.
OpenAI's frontier model GPT-5.5 is now available on Amazon Bedrock, allowing customers to build applications using OpenAI models within their existing AWS infrastructure and security protocols.
Codex, OpenAI's coding product used by more than 4 million people weekly, can now be powered by OpenAI models served from Amazon Bedrock. Customers can configure Codex to use Bedrock as the provider, with usage eligible to count toward AWS cloud commitments. The service is accessible through Codex CLI, the Codex desktop app, and Visual Studio Code extension.
Amazon Bedrock Managed Agents, powered by OpenAI, enables enterprises to deploy agents that can maintain context, execute multi-step workflows, and operate across business processes within AWS environments.
The integration allows organizations to use OpenAI capabilities while maintaining their existing AWS systems, security controls, and compliance requirements.
