Cognex launches AI vision controller with NVIDIA technology

April 28, 2026 9:03 AM

Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX) announced the launch of its In-Sight 6900 Vision Controller, a modular system powered by NVIDIA Jetson technology for industrial machine vision applications.

The controller allows manufacturers to configure cameras, optics, and lighting for specific inspection requirements without external PCs or distributed architectures. The system incorporates NVIDIA Jetson modules to process artificial intelligence workloads directly at manufacturing locations.

"As manufacturers accelerate their adoption of AI, they want solutions that are both powerful and easy to deploy," said Matt Moschner, President and CEO of Cognex. "The In-Sight Vision Controller delivers exactly that, combining NVIDIA's edge AI processing with Cognex's modular hardware and proven vision tools."

The system features interchangeable cameras, lenses, and industrial lighting components. It includes transformer-based classification models that require 10-20 training images and pixel-level segmentation capabilities for surface analysis.

Technical specifications include up to 157 TOPS of AI performance for running multiple high-resolution AI models simultaneously. The controller integrates NVIDIA TensorRT optimization for real-time inference synchronized with production line timing.

The product works with OneVision, Cognex's collaborative AI platform that enables engineering teams to develop and scale inspection applications across multiple facilities from a single environment.

Cognex, headquartered near Boston, has operated for over 40 years in machine vision technology with locations in more than 30 countries and over 30,000 customers worldwide.
