PTC launches AI assistant for Windchill product management platform

April 28, 2026 8:30 AM

PTC (NASDAQ: PTC) announced the release of Windchill AI Assistant, a new artificial intelligence capability for its Windchill product lifecycle management platform. The tool allows users to ask questions in natural language through a chat interface to find information within existing product documents.

The AI assistant enables users to search through product data by asking questions in plain language and receiving contextual answers based on Windchill document content. The system maintains existing security and access control rules while providing responses that reference source information.

"For many customers, the challenge isn't a lack of product data. It's how difficult it can be to find and reuse what teams have already learned across past engineering work," said John Haller, General Manager of Windchill at PTC.

The capability is deployed as a plugin and works with data already stored in the Windchill platform. Users can receive summaries of lengthy files and access information from engineering tests, reviews, and technical documentation.

PTC plans future enhancements to expand the AI assistant's functionality across additional product domains, including parts and change management. The company intends to incorporate broader process knowledge and embed AI-driven actions into workflows.

The Windchill AI Assistant joins other AI solutions in PTC's portfolio, including Creo AI, Codebeamer AI, ServiceMax AI, Onshape AI, and Arena AI. PTC employs over 7,000 people and supports more than 30,000 customers globally, according to the company statement.
