April 28, 2026 8:03 AM

Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI) received a six-figure development order from a tier-1 aerospace and defense supplier for a waveguide-based display system intended for military applications, according to a company statement.

The Rochester, New York-based company said the customer-funded program supports engineering and design services for a next-generation head-mounted display system. The development effort aims to produce a production-ready solution for defense applications.

This represents the second active program between Vuzix and the unnamed defense customer, expanding their existing relationship. The company previously announced the initial phase of this development program in September 2025.

"This next phase of the development program underscores our continued momentum with a leading aerospace and defense customer, and marks another step toward full production deployment," said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vuzix.

The development order focuses on waveguide and display technologies for military systems. Vuzix manufactures AI-powered smart glasses, waveguides, and augmented reality components for enterprise, medical, defense, and consumer markets.

The company holds more than 500 patents and pending patents in optics, head-mounted displays, and augmented reality technologies. Founded in 1997, Vuzix operates offices in Rochester, New York, and locations in Japan.
