April 28, 2026 6:30 AM

Immunic Inc. (NASDAQ: IMUX) appointed Michael A. Panzara as chief medical officer, effective April 24. Panzara will lead clinical development, medical affairs, and regulatory affairs while serving as a strategic partner to the chief executive officer and board of directors.

Panzara brings over 25 years of neurology experience to the biotechnology company. He previously served as chief medical officer at Neurvati Neurosciences, where he built a development organization focused on neurological and psychiatric disorders. Prior roles include chief medical officer at Wave Life Sciences and head of multiple sclerosis, neurology and ophthalmology therapeutic areas at Sanofi Genzyme, where he oversaw global regulatory approvals for multiple sclerosis drugs LEMTRADA and AUBAGIO.

At Biogen, Panzara served as global clinical lead for TYSABRI development and managed late-stage multiple sclerosis product portfolios including AVONEX, PLEGRIDY, and TECFIDERA.

Panzara holds a medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed neurology training at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also earned a Master of Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health.

The appointment comes as Immunic advances its lead program, vidofludimus calcium, through phase 3 ENSURE trials in relapsing multiple sclerosis. The company expects top-line data by the end of 2026.

Panzara succeeds Andreas Muehler, who co-founded the company and served as chief medical officer for 10 years. Muehler will continue supporting the company as a consultant.

Immunic's compensation committee granted Panzara options to purchase 300,000 shares under the company's 2026 inducement equity compensation plan. The options vest in two equal portions over three years beginning April 24, 2027.
