onsemi expands partnership with Geely for 900V electric vehicle tech

April 28, 2026 6:00 AM

onsemi (NASDAQ: ON) and Geely Auto Group announced an expanded strategic collaboration to integrate onsemi's EliteSiC silicon carbide technologies into Geely's electric vehicle platforms, according to a company statement.

The partnership focuses on integrating onsemi's power technologies into vehicles built on Geely's SEA-S architecture, which supports 900V electrical systems. The higher voltage architecture enables faster charging, extended driving range and improved vehicle performance compared to conventional systems.

Geely is incorporating onsemi's EliteSiC technologies into its Super Electric Power (SEP) System as part of the collaboration. The 900V architecture allows for more efficient electricity transmission through vehicles, reducing energy loss and heat generation.

"The EV market is entering a new phase, driven by higher-voltage architectures and increasing system complexity," said Hassane El-Khoury, president and CEO of onsemi. "Our expanded engagement with Geely reflects how automakers and semiconductor partners are working more closely and earlier to shape critical vehicle design decisions."

Gan JiaYue, CEO of Geely Auto Group, said the integration of onsemi technologies across the company's SEA-S-based platforms represents deeper collaboration in platform design and engineering execution.

The collaboration aims to deliver vehicles with longer driving range through reduced energy losses, faster charging capabilities, and improved thermal management for enhanced reliability. The partnership also focuses on system-level design and development acceleration.

Geely operates globally with brands including Geely Auto, Geely Galaxy, Lynk&Co, and Zeekr, serving more than 100 countries and regions worldwide.
