Solidion Technology plans ITC complaint against foreign battery makers

April 27, 2026 10:40 AM

Solidion Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: STI) announced it intends to file a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission seeking remedies under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 against foreign battery manufacturers for alleged use of the company's battery technology and materials.

The Dallas-based battery technology solutions provider stated the complaint targets what it describes as repeated use of its foundational battery technology portfolio and materials by large foreign entities. The company previously entered into an agreement with Hilco Global, a subsidiary of Orix Company, to monetize its intellectual property portfolio and enforce patent rights.

"Solidion's portfolio is foundational to most of the lithium battery space," said Jaymes Winters, Chief Executive Officer. "Given the number of First Citations, Prior Art and rejections of patents similar to ours, it is in the company's best interests to pursue whatever remedies are available. We seek amicable but expeditious solutions."

Solidion operates pilot production facilities in Dayton, Ohio, and manufactures battery materials and components. The company develops batteries for energy storage applications including UPS systems for artificial intelligence data centers and electric vehicles. According to the press release, Solidion holds more than 345 patents covering silicon anodes, biomass-based graphite, and lithium-sulfur and lithium-metal technologies.

Section 337 of the Tariff Act allows companies to seek remedies through the ITC for alleged patent infringement by imported products, potentially resulting in exclusion orders that bar infringing products from entering the U.S. market.
