TransCode Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: RNAZ) appointed Dr. Anna Moore as chair of its scientific advisory board and entered a sponsored research agreement with Michigan State University, according to a company statement.

Moore serves as associate dean for research development, director of the precision health program and professor in the departments of radiology and physiology at Michigan State University. She is a co-founder of TransCode Therapeutics and previously spent 26 years at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she was professor of radiology and director of the molecular imaging laboratory.

The company said Moore contributed to the development of its RNA platform and pipeline, including TTX-MC138, an antagomiR targeting microRNA-10b. As board chair, she will guide the company's research and development efforts focused on RNA-based cancer treatments.

"I am honored and very much looking forward to assume this role and continue collaborating with the TransCode team to advance innovative RNA-based therapeutics targeting advanced metastatic disease, which remains one of the most significant unmet needs in oncology," Moore said in the statement.

The research agreement with Michigan State University will focus on accelerating development of TransCode's pipeline candidates for clinical development. The research will evaluate TTX-MC138 in combination with Seviprotimut-L and standard-of-care therapies. TransCode acquired Seviprotimut-L through its acquisition of Polynoma LLC's parent company.

TransCode Therapeutics develops RNA and immuno-oncology therapeutics for high-risk and advanced cancers. The company's lead candidate TTX-MC138 targets metastatic tumors that overexpress microRNA-10b.
