DeepSeek cuts AI model prices by 75% in push against US rivals
Investing.com -- DeepSeek is offering a 75% discount on its newly released DeepSeek-V4-Pro model as the Chinese artificial intelligence lab intensifies competition with Silicon Valley companies.
The Hangzhou-based company launched the promotional pricing last week for developers using the flagship model, which was released after months of anticipation. The discount will run until May 5th, 2026, at 15:59 UTC.
Under the promotion, input costs for cache misses dropped to $0.435 from $1.74, while cache hits fell to $0.03625 from $0.145. Output pricing decreased to $0.87 from $3.48.
DeepSeek also reduced fees for input cache hits across its family of AI platforms to a tenth of their original pricing. The company said the change will lower costs for frequent users sending similar or repeated requests.
The pricing strategy comes as OpenAI Inc., Anthropic PBC and Alphabet Inc.'s Google rapidly release new models. Access to those platforms can be expensive.
DeepSeek previously disrupted the AI industry with its R1 model last year, triggering a price-based competition among providers.
