KBR wins $200 million transportation systems contract

KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced its Mission Technology Solutions business secured a recompete contract with a ceiling value of $200 million to enhance aviation safety and modernize transportation networks. The company will provide services to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Transportation, Technology & Engineering Mission Solutions (TTEMS) contract is a single-award, five-year Blanket Purchase Agreement issued through the U.S. General Services Administration Multiple Award Schedule program. KBR will perform work in Cambridge and other locations worldwide.

Under the contract, KBR will provide engineering services, artificial intelligence, machine learning, web frameworks, modeling and simulation techniques, big data and analytics. The agreement includes firm fixed-price, time-and-materials and labor-hour calls.

"TTEMS reflects KBR's long-standing partnership with the Volpe Center and our shared commitment to keeping people and goods moving safely and efficiently," said Todd May, Senior Vice President of Mission Technology Solutions.

The contract covers all transportation modes, including services for the Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Highway Administration, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and other Department of Transportation agencies, as well as the Department of War and additional federal agencies.

KBR has supported the Volpe Center for more than 15 years. The company's work includes developing Intelligent Transportation Systems that enable real-time communication between vehicles, traffic signals and roadway infrastructure. KBR also advances Position, Navigation and Timing technologies for aviation safety and automated vehicle systems.

Additional services include developing the System Approach for Safety Oversight platform for the FAA to analyze safety data and analyzing commercial truck and bus safety data for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

KBR employs approximately 36,000 people worldwide with operations in over 28 countries, according to the company's announcement.
