April 24, 2026 10:45 AM

Air Products (NYSE: APD) announced plans to build, own and operate a new air separation unit in Cocoa, Florida, according to a company statement. The facility will produce liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon, with operations targeted to begin in the second half of 2028.

The air separation unit will supply products to space launch providers in Florida, as well as serve the regional merchant market for industries including metals processing, medical and chemical sectors. Francesco Maione, Air Products' President for Americas, Helium and Rare Gases, said the facility's location provides an opportunity to enhance support for space launch providers in the state.

Air Products currently operates an air separation unit in Orlando, Florida, which has been in operation for over three decades. The new Cocoa facility will expand the company's regional coverage in the state. Air Products operates approximately 70 air separation units across the United States.

The company reported fiscal 2025 sales of $12 billion from operations in approximately 50 countries. Air Products describes itself as a world-leading industrial gases company that has been in operation for over 85 years.
