Vera Bradley board member Tharp steps down amid Google promotion
Vera Bradley Inc. (NASDAQ: VRA) announced that board member Carrie Tharp will not seek re-election at the company's 2026 shareholder meeting. Tharp joined the board in 2020 and served on both the Talent and Compensation Committee and Audit Committee during her six-year tenure.
Tharp's decision follows her recent promotion to Go To Market COO & VP Customer Experience at Google Cloud. The Fort Wayne, Indiana-based handbag and accessories company will reduce its board size to six members rather than fill the vacancy.
"Carrie has been a significant contributor to the Company's Board of Directors over the past six years," said Ian Bickley, Chairman of Vera Bradley's board. "Her insight regarding customer behavior and knowledge on the most current marketing and technology trends have been invaluable for the Company."
Tharp stated, "It has been an honor to serve on the Vera Bradley board, but I believe this is the right time to conclude my tenure in light of my expanded responsibilities at Google. I look forward to watching Vera Bradley's growth and believe the future is bright."
Vera Bradley operates through two segments: VB Direct, which includes company-owned stores and websites, and VB Indirect, which encompasses sales to specialty retail locations, department stores, and licensing agreements. The company was founded in 1982 and is known for women's handbags, luggage, and accessories.
