April 23, 2026 8:02 AM

Leonardo DRS Inc. (NASDAQ: DRS) announced the introduction of a 2 kVA AC Uninterruptible Power Supply designed for mission-critical electronics on naval vessels. The UPS provides backup power during shipboard power disturbances and features IP54 protection rating for harsh maritime environments.

The device is positioned for use in areas outside controlled spaces on ships, according to Cari Ossenfort, senior vice president and general manager at Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics business unit. The UPS incorporates IP54 enclosure protection and is scheduled to complete qualification testing to applicable MIL-STD requirements this summer, covering electromagnetic interference, shock, vibration, salt fog, and fungus resistance.

The announcement comes as part of Leonardo DRS's portfolio of power conversion technology for the U.S. Navy, which includes systems for submarines and surface ships. The company stated the new UPS addresses increased power requirements for current and future naval platforms.

The device joins Leonardo DRS's existing family of uninterruptible power supply products. The company specializes in defense technologies including advanced sensing, network computing, force protection, and electric power systems for U.S. national security customers and international allies.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
