NeoGenomics integrates oncology testing with Epic health records system
NeoGenomics Inc. (NASDAQ: NEO) announced that its oncology testing portfolio is now available through Epic Aura, integrating with Epic electronic health record systems used by healthcare providers across the United States.
The integration allows physicians to order NeoGenomics' tests for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies and view results within the same system used for patient care management. The company stated this could drive a 20-30% increase in test adoption per site, based on research published in the Association of Cancer Care Centers journal.
"Clinicians need timely access to the right diagnostics within the systems they already rely on," said Tony Zook, Chief Executive Officer of NeoGenomics. "Successfully integrating with Epic enables us to bring our testing capabilities directly into everyday care delivery, with the potential to help patients begin appropriate therapy sooner while allowing health systems to scale precision oncology more efficiently."
The Fort Myers, Florida-based company described the integration as part of its digital health strategy to strengthen connectivity across community oncology practices and large health systems. NeoGenomics stated the infrastructure will support delivery of liquid biopsy and molecular residual disease testing capabilities.
NeoGenomics operates CAP-accredited and CLIA-certified laboratories throughout the US and a facility in Cambridge, United Kingdom, providing cancer genetics testing and diagnostic services to oncologists, pathologists, hospital systems, academic centers, and pharmaceutical companies.
