Werner adds 800 containers to expand Mexico intermodal operations
Werner Enterprises Inc. (NASDAQ: WERN) announced it will deploy 800 containers for intermodal services in Mexico through 2026. The transportation and logistics company currently operates 400 containers in its Mexican fleet, with an additional 400 units planned for deployment throughout 2026.
The expansion will initially focus on Monterrey and Silao markets, with Mexico City operations scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. Werner has maintained operations in Mexico since 1999.
"We want Mexican businesses to know there is a local, asset-based solution ready for them," said Bernardo Alexander, Werner's Commercial Vice President of Mexico. "With our long, trusted history in Mexico since 1999, we have the expertise to simplify cross-border shipping."
The containers feature GPS tracking and cargo cameras. Werner stated it uses C-TPAT certified carriers for cross-border shipments and maintains teams near Monterrey, Silao and Pantaco with 24/7 bilingual customer service.
Werner reported 2025 revenues of nearly $3.0 billion and employs more than 15,000 associates. The company provides transportation and logistics services across the United States, Mexico and Canada, including dedicated truckload services, freight brokerage, intermodal and final mile delivery.
