Kyndryl expands distributed cloud services with Google Cloud

April 22, 2026 9:03 AM

Kyndryl (NYSE: KD) announced an expansion of its distributed cloud services with Google Cloud to help enterprises modernize applications across private cloud, on-premises data centers, and edge computing environments.

The technology services provider said it will offer end-to-end cloud and IT services, including consulting, implementation, and managed services, to help enterprises build and operate distributed cloud environments across hybrid and multicloud infrastructures.

Under the expanded collaboration, Kyndryl will help enterprises integrate Google Distributed Cloud with Kubernetes-based application modernization on Google Kubernetes Engine. This enables organizations to run cloud-native workloads while maintaining control over data residency and governance to meet sovereignty, regulatory, or performance requirements.

"As data and AI workloads scale, customers are looking for greater control and visibility across their cloud environments," said Giovanni Carraro, Global Strategic Alliances Leader at Kyndryl.

Eliot Danner, Managing Director of Google Distributed Cloud, said the partnership enables organizations to run applications where public cloud alone cannot meet regulatory, latency, or operational requirements.

The services provide a unified operating model that standardizes governance, security, and lifecycle management across environments. Organizations can place and move workloads across on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud environments as requirements change.

The distributed cloud capabilities support Kubernetes and container-based application modernization, with features like Gemini Enterprise serving as an intelligent assistant to streamline processes and reduce complexity.

The announcement comes as enterprises face fragmented cloud environments, rising costs, and increasing regulatory pressure while dealing with growing demand for data-intensive and AI-driven workloads.
