April 22, 2026 9:02 AM

MongoDB Inc. (NASDAQ: MDB) announced the appointment of two chief product officers as part of an expanded product leadership structure. Pablo Stern will serve as Chief Product Officer for AI and Emerging Products, while Ben Cefalo has been named Chief Product Officer for Core Products.

Stern joins MongoDB from ServiceNow, where he served as executive vice president and general manager of Technology Workflow Products. At ServiceNow, he scaled the IT Operations Management business from $100 million to more than $1 billion in revenue over five years. At MongoDB, Stern will oversee the company's AI product portfolio, including Search, Vector Search, and Voyage products.

Cefalo, who joined MongoDB in 2017, was previously senior vice president and head of Core Products and Atlas Foundational Services. In his new role, he will oversee MongoDB's core product portfolio, including Atlas and Enterprise Advanced. The company reported $2.46 billion in fiscal year 2026 revenue and serves more than 65,200 customers worldwide.

Jim Scharf continues as Chief Technology Officer, overseeing MongoDB's engineering organization and Global Security Office. All three executives will report to President and Chief Executive Officer CJ Desai.

"Having a dedicated leader for each focus area will allow us to deliver what our customers need as they standardize both their core applications and AI workloads on MongoDB," Desai stated in the announcement.

The leadership changes follow recent appointments of a Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Customer Officer at the New York-based database company.
