Anixa Biosciences ovarian cancer therapy to be presented at gene therapy meeting
Anixa Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANIX) announced that its ovarian cancer CAR-T therapy will be presented at the International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy 2026 Annual Meeting in Dublin, Ireland, May 6-9, 2026.
Cheryl Cox, Operations Director of the Cell Therapies and Gene Expression Engineering Facility at Moffitt Cancer Center, will present data on the company's ongoing Phase 1 clinical trial of lira-cel. The presentation is titled "Phase 1 clinical trial of autologous T cells genetically engineered with a chimeric receptor to target the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) in recurrent ovarian cancer."
Liraltagene autoleucel, or lira-cel, targets the follicle-stimulating hormone receptor, which is expressed on ovarian cells, tumor vasculature, and certain cancer cells. The Phase 1 trial (ClinicalTrials.gov NCT05316129) is enrolling adult women with recurrent ovarian cancer who have progressed after at least two prior therapies.
The therapy uses chimeric endocrine receptor-T cell technology, which differs from other cell therapies as the natural ligand FSH binds to the FSHR receptor on tumor cells instead of an antibody fragment. Anixa is developing lira-cel in collaboration with Moffitt Cancer Center.
The ISCT 2026 Annual Meeting brings together global experts in cell and gene therapy and is described as the largest conference focused on translating cell and gene therapies from research to clinical practice.
