April 22, 2026 8:31 AM

Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ: KOPN) announced it received a $3.2 million initial contract for optical modules supporting first-person-view goggles for drone pilots, according to a company statement.

The Westborough, Massachusetts-based company said the program includes potential delivery of up to 40,000 goggles by the end of 2028. The contract marks Kopin's entry into the FPV drone market.

The optical modules feature Kopin's Sentinel FPV technology, which incorporates OLED microdisplays in monocular or binocular configurations. The system includes what the company calls Dual Situational Awareness technology, allowing drone operators to view high-definition drone imagery while maintaining awareness of their immediate surroundings.

FPV goggles enable drone operators to control aircraft remotely by viewing real-time imagery transmitted from cameras and sensors mounted on the drone.

"The introduction of Kopin's FPV Sentinel technology, supported by a $3.2 million initial order, with additional follow-on potential, comes at a pivotal time," said Nic Peterson, Director of Warfighter Vision at Kopin.

The company stated it is expanding FPV production capacity and engaging with other drone companies seeking to integrate its technologies. Kopin said it conducted field trials of the technology prior to receiving the contract.

Kopin develops display and optical solutions for defense, enterprise, and consumer products. The company's portfolio includes microdisplays, display modules, and head-mounted display systems.
