Planters Broadband selects Ribbon for 400G/800G optical network upgrade
Planters Broadband has chosen Ribbon Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: RBBN) to deploy new optical networking equipment as part of a broader network modernization project, according to a company statement.
The Georgia-based broadband provider selected Ribbon's Apollo 9608 optical networking platform and Muse multilayer automation platform to establish a new high-capacity optical route capable of supporting 400G and 800G speeds.
"Ribbon's combination of advanced optical solutions, flexible commercial approach and commitment to customer attention made this an easy decision for us," said Stephen Milner, Planters Broadband CEO. "This new route is just the beginning, and we look forward to further modernizing our network with a partner who understands our needs."
The deployment addresses Planters' capacity expansion requirements across Georgia, providing centralized network management and automation capabilities. The solution enables the company to transition from fixed optics to coherent services with upgrade paths to higher data rates.
Elizabeth Page, Regional Senior Sales Director at Ribbon, said the partnership framework allows Planters to "move from limited fixed optics to high capacity, coherent services with a seamless path to higher rates, eliminating forklift upgrades."
Ribbon Communications provides cloud communications and IP optical networking solutions to service providers, enterprises and critical infrastructure operators globally. The company trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker RBBN.
