NetApp and Google Cloud expand partnership with unified storage service

April 22, 2026 8:01 AM

NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) announced new features for its collaboration with Google Cloud at the Google Cloud Next conference. The company made two services generally available to help customers manage enterprise data for artificial intelligence applications.

NetApp introduced NetApp Data Migrator, a multi-cloud data migration service that moves data across environments. Google Cloud announced the general availability of Google Cloud NetApp Volumes Flex Unified Service Level, which provides a single storage pool for file and block workloads across all Google regions.

The Flex Unified service allows customers to run applications including databases, high-performance computing, electronic design automation, and VMware workloads without modifying their applications. The service aims to address challenges enterprises face when moving and managing data across multiple environments for AI workloads.

"Customers can move their enterprise data, whether block or file, into Google Cloud NetApp Volumes easily, and once it's there, they can use Google Cloud services, including for AI, directly on that data without needing to move or duplicate it again," said Pravjit Tiwana, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Storage and Services at NetApp.

Sameet Agarwal, Vice President and General Manager of Storage for Google Cloud, stated that the collaboration removes traditional friction of data migration to enable organizations to use Google Cloud's data and AI services.

The announcements were made at Google Cloud Next, which runs from April 22-24 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. NetApp operates booth #1607 at the conference.
