Rubrik adds cyber resilience capabilities for Google Cloud SQL databases

April 22, 2026 8:01 AM

Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) announced the integration of its Security Cloud platform with Google Cloud SQL, enabling organizations to protect managed PostgreSQL databases with automated backups and cyber resilience features.

The integration allows Cloud SQL customers to use Rubrik Security Cloud for immutable, automated backups without disrupting existing database operations or recovery strategies. The service provides air-gapped backups and cross-region recovery capabilities designed to protect against ransomware attacks.

Key features include unified management of Cloud SQL protection alongside other Google services through a single interface, automated discovery and protection of new Cloud SQL instances, and flexible storage options using Google Cloud Storage Archive, Coldline, or Nearline for backups. The service also offers tag-based SLA policies for compliance requirements and unlimited retention periods.

"Organizations shouldn't have to choose between cyber resilience and disaster recovery," said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. "With Google Cloud, we're giving our joint customers immutable backups that work alongside their existing disaster recovery strategy."

According to Rubrik Zero Labs research, 90% of IT and security leaders reported cyberattacks in the previous year, while 35% cited securing data across varied ecosystems as their primary challenge. The study also identified a lack of centralized management and visibility over cloud-based data as a significant concern.

The announcement comes as Cloud SQL has become a foundational database service for enterprise applications, hosting critical production workloads that require comprehensive cyber resilience as they scale.

Rubrik describes itself as operating at the intersection of data protection, cyber resilience, and enterprise AI acceleration, providing security and recovery services for data, identities, and workloads across cloud environments.
