Jacobs joint venture wins contract for Sydney Metro West stations

April 22, 2026 6:45 AM

Jacobs (NYSE: J), GHD and WSP have been selected to design five underground stations for the Sydney Metro West project as part of Stations Package West. The joint venture will provide integrated engineering design services for stations at Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays.

The Sydney Metro West line will span 14.9 miles and connect Greater Parramatta to Sydney's central business district. Gamuda serves as lead contractor for Stations Package West, with the design work being handled by the three-company joint venture.

The station designs will target a 6-Star Green Star As Built rating, focusing on environmentally responsible infrastructure. This sustainability approach reflects the project's emphasis on high-performance design standards.

"Jacobs' appointment, alongside our JV partners, builds on our track record supporting transformative rail investments in Australia and globally," said Jacobs Executive Vice President Sinead Giblin. "These stations will improve connections across Western Sydney while supporting regional economic growth and new housing along the corridor."

This contract extends Jacobs' involvement in Sydney Metro West following previous work on environmental and climate change advisory services, as well as design work for the central tunnel and station excavation package completed in late 2025.

The information is based on a press release statement from Jacobs.
